Masters Cup Series
The Masters Cup Series is a succession of individual tournaments where the placing of a club program’s teams at each event helps determine an overall Club Champion at the end of the series. Each Masters Cup Series lasts during an entire calendar year.
This is different from a league structure since teams are not required to participate in every Masters Cup Tournament. A club team may compete in one event and have a chance to win that individual tournament or the club program may choose to enter teams in multiple tournaments, as well as multiple divisions, in order to win the overall Masters Cup Series Club Championship along with the $1000 Prize Money.
Although a new idea to the sport of water polo, the concept is structured similar to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series model. Clubs will receive points for top three finishes in each of the divisions they enter at every recognized Masters Cup Series Tournament.
In addition, AWP wants to see the hosts of each tournament have an opportunity to benefit from running a series cup and at the same time have the freedom to offer the best tournament available for the Master Level Athlete.
